PORTLAND (WGME) – Payroll problems continue to plague some Portland school district employees.

While the district said most of the issues would be resolved by Friday, the teachers union says that's not the case.
In a letter this week, Superintendent Xavier Botana said edtechs should be paid correctly on Friday, including the 5 percent pay increase outlined in their contract.
The district has blamed a shortage of payroll staff and a network outage for the problems.
The Portland Education Association said some members' pay checks were still not correct Friday, writing in a statement:
“The payroll issue over the last few weeks has been a huge financial burden for our staff, and we are hopeful that as the PEA works with MEA and our attorney that together with PPS we can come to concrete resolutions that fix the problem now, and in the future."
The superintendent wouldn't agree to an interview with CBS13 about these issues when asked on Friday, saying only that the district is working to resolve them.
