BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – Three district court judges are among the seven people who have applied for an opening on the North Dakota Supreme Court.
South Central District Judge Doug Bahr, Northwest District Judge Daniel El-Dweek, and North Central District Judge Stacy Louser have applied.
The other applicants are Fargo attorneys Jake Rodenbiker and Angela Elsperger Lord, and Grand Forks lawyer Kiara Kraus-Parr. Also applying were attorney David Hagler of Bismarck.
The Judicial Nominating Committee will screen the applicants and send a list of finalists to Gov. Doug Burgum. He can fill the vacancy from the list of nominees, return the list to the committee, or call a special election to fill the opening for the remainder of the term.
Justice Gerald Vandewalle is retiring at the end of January. He has been on the court for 44 years.
