Road Closures happening in downtown Macon for 'Reindeer Run'

The race starts at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

MACON, Ga. — Macon is gearing up for the 30th annual Reindeer Run and Santa Stroll for Atrium Navicent Children's Hospital.

So, if you're driving around downtown Macon tomorrow - look out! You will find some roads closed off from the start of the race until around 11 a.m.

According to a release by the Bibb County Sheriff's office, the streets impacted by the race include:

- Spring Street will be closed between Pine and Hemlock

- One lane of Mercer University Drive westbound will be closed from College Street to Stadium Drive

- Oglethorpe will be blocked at Adams

There will be traffic control on College at Appleton.

The route begins and ends at the Children's Hospital on Spring Street.

There will also be heavy runner traffic along the remainder of the route, which will be ran in this order:

  1. Spring Street to Columbus
  2. Columbus to Appleton
  3. Appleton to College
  4. College to roundabout to Oglethorpe
  5. Oglethorpe to Adams
  6. Adams to Coleman to Montpelier
  7. Montpelier to Johnson to Stadium
  8. Stadium to Mercer University Drive
  9. Mercer to College
  10. College back to Appleton and back to the Children’s Hospital on Spring Street

So, if you are driving on any of these roads on Saturday morning, please be on the lookout for runners.

Deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office along with volunteers will be stationed on the route to help guide cars and runners.

The roads should be cleared by 11 a.m.
