GREEN BAY (WLUK) – The mother and sister of a murder victim expressed frustration at another delay Friday in case against suspect Jeremiah Robinson.

Robinson, then 15, allegedly shot and killed a 31-year-old man Feb. 18 outside the Walgreens store on the corner of Oneida and Mason streets. The victim has not been identified.

In Wisconsin, those between 10 and 16 years and charged with homicide are prosecuted in adult court. But attorneys can petition for what’s called a “reverse waiver hearing,” in the attempt to have the case moved to juvenile court, which Robinson’s attorney requested. Such requests are reviewed by a judge and are not automatically granted.

The hearing was delayed once because one of the state’s witnesses was unavailable. Friday’s hearing did not happen because of the death of a relative of a witness for Robinson, according to his attorney, Michael Balskus.

The victim’s mother and sister, who appeared in court via video conference, told the court they were upset with another delay in the case.

“I want justice for my brother,” said the sister, who was not identified by name in court.

Judge Thomas Walsh acknowledged the frustration but noted if he made errors in handling the case, it could be overturned on appeal, and the entire process could have to start over.

The reverse waiver hearing is now set for Dec. 16.

According to the criminal complaint, Robinson, now 16, and another man, Jeromy Finke, got into a confrontation with the victim and another man over money during a drug deal. Robinson told police the dispute carried over to the outside of the store, and he shot the victim in self-defense after being threatened with brass knuckles.

The criminal complaint says the victim, identified only by his initials, was shot four times.

Robinson is being held on a $1 million cash bond.
