This weekend, the Enterprise Center hosts the Professional Bull Riders for two nights — the top 30 bull riders worldwide will be competing in what will prove to be a thrilling sports experience.
Marcus Mast, a bull rider from Indiana, joined KMOX to talk about the event. Mast has been a bull rider for ten years. He explained that bull riders have to stay on the bull for at least eight seconds.
“Obviously, I mean, you're talking getting on the back of a bull anywhere from 1,400 to 2,000 pounds…you know, here's a little guy of 150-160 pounds, you cannot muscle something that's five times, ten times your weight,” Mast said. “So obviously, you know you got it, the better you can make it like a dance and just flow with them, the better it is.”
This is Mast’s second time competing in St. Louis. He’s ranked 131st in the world — though he says he doesn’t really pay attention to the numbers.
“I don't try to worry too much about the standings and try to just ride my bulls every time I get the chance to compete here at this level,” he said. “And hopefully they'll call me to come back next week.”
