J Cumby Construction, Plateau Marine and Anderson Printing Solutions sit adjacent parcel

Cookeville – The Cookeville City Council has rezoned 12 acres of an 18-acre parcel at 1650 Blackwell Road from a single family residential to light manufacturing designation. Currently the parcel is split designated between residential and light manufacturing.

The move could allow for new businesses to enter the space in the future.

“The total area requested for the rezoning is the northwestern portion of the property,” said Community Development Director Jon Ward to the City Council Thursday evening. “The rezoning request was submitted to allow for one zoning designation across the parcel for future development.”

The properties East and Southwest are already zoned for light manufacturing. J Cumby construction, Plateau Marine and Anderson Printing Solutions sit adjacent to the parcel. The rezoning was previously approved by the planning commission.

Following a motion to approve by Councilman Chad Gilbert and a second by Vice Mayor Luke Eldridge, the motion was approved unanimously.
