The owners of Knock on Wood Furniture in Lincoln surveyed the burned-out remains of their business Friday afternoon.
The building caught fire Thursday night, and investigators said it is a total loss and will be demolished.
"Draining, just a lot to think about. Restarting, the memories, all that stuff," owner Michael Gordon said.
Gordon told NBC 10 News that he and his wife started the family business close to 40 years ago in their Central Falls backyard, making picnic tables.
"We started down the road in Cumberland, just over the bridge in the little mini strip mall. We started with a small little store, a small little hole in the wall, then we kept expanding, expanding until it got too small for us," he said.
The business has been in its current spot on Lonsdale Avenue for more than 20 years.
"I feel bad for my customers. I am trying to retrieve some information so I can go in and call them, but I can't go in," Gordon said. "So, I'm trying to find someone who will go in and will at least get my customer list so I can update them and go from there."
Gordon said he and his family plan to rebuild.
"We'll be back. It's been a long day," Gordon said. "Its going to be a long process, but we'll get back."
