Mike Flanagan isn't letting The Midnight Club's cancellation keep him from resolving those Season 1 cliffhangers.

Flanagan, who is also the mind behind series like The Haunting of Hill HouseThe Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass, took to Twitter to express his disappointment about Netflix's decision to cancel the show after one season. "I'm very disappointed that Netflix has decided not to pursue a second season of The Midnight Club," wrote Flanagan. "But as promised, here are the answers to the unresolved mysteries of Season 1 (along with our plans for Season 2)."

The creator then linked to a lengthy Tumblr post where he answered some big questions about the cliffhangers and symbolism of Season 1, and detailed the twists and turns of the ill-fated second season, including some major character deaths, new character introductions, spooky revelations, and love stories.

"It's a shame we won't get to make it, but it would be a bigger shame if you guys simply had to live with the unanswered questions and the cliffhanger ending," wrote Flanagan.

"I loved making this show, and I am so proud of the cast and crew. Particularly our cast, who attacked this story with incredible spirit and bravery each and every day," Flanagan concluded. "But for now, we'll put the fire out, and leave the library dark and quiet. To those before, and to those after. To us now, and to those beyond. Seen or unseen, here but not here. I'll always be grateful that I got to be part of this Club."

The Midnight Club's cancellation comes following news of Flanagan departing Netflix for a new deal with Amazon Prime Video
