The man charged in the accidental shooting death of his girlfriend was in court on Friday.
Joshua Wilbers appeared virtually in Cole County Court on Friday for his arraignment.
His lawyer waived the formal arraignment.
Judge Brian Stumpe set Wilbers' bond at $25,000.
Wilbers' attorney Daniel Hunt told KRCG that Wilbers would pay the bond.
Wilbers will next be in court on January 31.
Prosecutors charged Wilbers with Involuntary Manslaughter and Armed Criminal Action for the shooting death of Hallie Phillips.
Wilbers said the shooting was an accident.
He said he had recently purchased a rifle and was going outside to shoot it.
He said Phillips asked him about the firing pin, so he removed the magazine and cycled the bolt twice to make sure there was no bullet in the chamber.
Wilbers said he looked down at the gun, pulled the trigger, and the gun fired, striking Phillips in the face.
