On Thursday, the NCAA rejected Wichita State's request for a waiver allowing Siena transfer Colby Rogers to play right away.

The choice effectively ends Rogers' chances of playing for the Shockers this season after his 42.9% three-point shooting percentage placed him in the top 10 nationally last year.

The following is a statement from Wichita State Athletics on the status of men’s basketball player Colby Rogers:

“Wichita State University (WSU) submitted a Legislative Relief Waiver for Colby Rogers in early October. The institution has communicated weekly with NCAA Academic and Membership Affairs (AMA) staff regarding this 4-4-4 transfer waiver and has worked diligently to provide an abundance of information in support of Colby’s case. The NCAA staff denied the waiver on Wednesday, November 16. WSU appealed the NCAA staff decision, based upon the totality of circumstances, to the Division I Committee for Legislative Relief and the committee upheld the staff’s decision of a denial.”
