Bibb judge puts investigation of Macon Water Authority on hold

Judge David Mincey gave the lawyers of each side 20 days to present their arguments.

MACON, Ga. — A Bibb County judge has put the investigation of Macon's Water Authority on hold, according to district attorney Anita Howard.

Last month, Authority Chairman Sam Hart asked the D.A. to investigate whether some members had illegal meetings.

Howard says she took the matter to a grand jury, but 4 authority members objected.

Lawyers for Dwight Jones, Bill Howell, Anissa Jones, and Frank Patterson argued that Howard has no power to investigate because they're not part of county government.

They asked judge David Mincey to throw out subpoenas ordering them to testify.

Mincey put the case on hold, and gave lawyers on both sides 20 days to present their arguments.

Hart won't say which members are accused of having illegal meetings and the members themselves won't comment.
