Netflix has confirmed the release date for season two of Ginny and Georgia.

It's been a nearly two-year wait for fans of the show, which debuted on the streaming service in February 2021, but we now know season 2 of the comedy-drama will land on the streaming service on January 5, 2023.

The series follows mother Georgia and daughter Ginny (played by Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry) as they settled into life in a New England town.

The official synopsis for season two reads: "How do you live with the knowledge that your mother is a murderer? That's what Ginny is going to have to figure out.

"Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny – her step-dad – didn't die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny.

"Georgia on the other hand would much prefer that the past be left in the past, after all, she's got a wedding to plan! But the funny thing about Georgia's past is that it never stays buried for long…"

In September executive producer and writer Debra J Fisher took to TikTok to update fans on season 2, confirming that it had wrapped filming.

"The number one question I get asked as the showrunner of Ginny and Georgia is, 'Where's season two?'," she said.

"Here's what I know and what I can tell you: we just wrapped. So what does that mean? It will take Netflix 14 weeks to dub Ginny and Georgia into all the non-English speaking languages," explained Fisher via the social media platform.

"Without getting an official word from Netflix, that takes us to the end of the year."

Ginny & Georgia season one is available to stream on Netflix. Season two will be released on January 5, 2023.
