Man dead, woman injured after apartment shooting near UNLV, police say

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police investigated a shooting near UNLV that left a man dead and a woman injured.

Metro police confirmed that the shooting occurred on Thursday at 7:53 p.m. in the 3800 block of Royal Crest Street at an apartment complex (near Twain Avenue and University Center Drive).

An 8 News Now Investigators source initially reported that at least two victims were believed to have gunshot wounds following multiple reports of a shooting near UNLV.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex police said they found a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s both injured with gunshot wounds.

Police believe the man had been in some type of physical altercation with another man at the time of the shooting.

The suspect is accused of pulling out a gun and shooting the male victim and may have left the scene shirtless, police added.

The suspect’s whereabouts are unknown as of Thursday evening.

The man and woman were taken to Sunrise Hospital where the man was later pronounced dead.

The woman is expected to recover and suffered “non-life threatening” injuries, Lt. Jason Johansson with Metro’s homicide unit stated at a news conference Thursday night.

Police also stated that no arrests have been made in the case.
