Salvation Army, Omaha police looking for bell-ringing thief
An Omaha man is allegedly a bell-ringing thief.
According to an Omaha police report, a 33-year-old man is accused of stealing from The Salvation Army.
The suspect went to a Baker's supermarket on Nov. 25 at 10:30 a.m., located near 132nd and Maple streets, to be a "bell ringer," according to the police report.
The incident report stated that the suspect requested to get off at 4 p.m. and when someone from The Salvation Army arrived to collect the bucket, the suspect was gone.
According to the police report, several attempts to reach the suspect were unsuccessful.
The average amount collected at that location is $250, according to the police report.
Authorities have not provided security camera images of the man, and Baker's has not returned KETV NewsWatch 7's calls.
The Salvation Army said they're looking into the matter, and they won't be working with this bell ringer again.
"The safety and security of everyone involved in our kettle-based fundraising efforts are top priorities for us," The Salvation Army said in a statement.
Police said there are currently no developments in the case.
