Volleyball Defeats Central Michigan in First Round of NIVC Tournament

The Musketeers start post season play with a victory
ATHENS, Ohio - Xavier volleyball swept Central Michigan 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 29-27) in the first round of the NIVC Tournament.
The Musketeers improve to 20-11 (11-7 BIG EAST) and continue to the second round while Central Michigan ends their season at 20-12 (12-6 MAC).
The victory serves as the FIRST POST SEASON WIN in program history!
• Carrigan O'Reilly moved into sixth place in the record book for career assists with the 38 assists accumulated in the match. The senior setter now has a career total of 3,317 with 1,103 just this season.
• Sophomore outside hitter Anna Taylor led the squad in kills and hitting percentage with 12 kills, no errors on 19 total attempts hitting .632 in the three sets.
• Brooklyn Cink tied with Taylor for the match high in kills with 12 but also posted her ninth Xavier career double-double by collecting 24 digs in the match. The senior outside hitter also posted one service ace and three block assists.
• Senior outside hitter Maryann O'Toole tallied 10 kills for the Musketeers following close behind the match leaders.
• Senior defensive specialist Alyssa Overbeck posted 10 digs while junior defensive specialist Stevie Wolf and sophomore libero Lucia Corsaro each posted eight.
• Graduate middle blocker Angel Robinson and O'Reilly both put up two block assists against the Chippewas in the first round matchup.
• Overbeck, Corsaro, and Cink each tossed a service ace on the board for the Musketeers.
• Xavier volleyball will face the winner of the Ohio-Valparaiso match Friday at 6 p.m.
