Dietrich new KC board president

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – David Dietrich, a relative newcomer to the Keystone Central School Board, is the board’s new president. Dietrich, representing the district’s Region VI (Lock Haven Second/Third Wards, Allison Township) was elected in a split vote at the board’s reorganizational meeting Thursday night.

Dietrich and fellow board member Jeff Johnston were both nominated for president, Dietrich elected on a 5-3 vote with board member Wayne Koch absent. There were also two nominations for vice-president, current board vice-president Roger Elling and Butch Knauff. A vote for that position ended in a 4-4 tie but Elling was elected in a second vote after Knauff withdrew as a candidate.

Dietrich, a resident of N. Fairview St. in Lock Haven, had been appointed to the board in April, following the resignation of Randy Strouse. The new board president is a western Pennsylvania native but has local roots in his late grandparents, Kermit and Edyth Dietrich from Mill Hall. He had moved to Lock Haven following his retirement in 2014.

Dietrich replaces Tracy Smith who did not seek reelection.

A brief board voting meeting followed the reorganizational session. Among the hires was Kristi Serafini-Brooks as the district’s new fiscal operations supervisor. Her pay was set at $65,000, her hire effective Dec. 19. The Clinton County Commissioners earlier on Thursday had accepted her resignation as the county’s Deputy Treasurer, effective Dec. 16. Keystone Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin offered a “welcome to our team” to the new district fiscal official.
