LOS ANGELES, Calif. (WKRC) - Ten students at a middle school were evaluated for a suspected overdose Thursday.
The Los Angeles Fire Department evaluated the 10 students who were all between the ages of 12 and 15 at Van Nuys Middle School. Three of the kids were released while seven were taken to nearby hospitals.
First responders were called to the school at 10:30 a.m. and by 11:20 a.m., five people had medical problems. By noon, 10 students were having symptoms. Reports say that 50 firefighters were called to the scene to make sure all students were accounted for.
Officials said that the students may have “possibly” eaten “cannabis edibles,” but they confirmed that fentanyl was not involved.
The students were in “mild-to-moderate distress,” but officials would not say what symptoms the kids had.
