New surveillance video shows the moments before a hit-and-run Wednesday night that sent a mother and four kids to the hospital.
The video does not show the crash happening but captures the audio from the moment it took place.
Menhaz Bhuiyan, who lives on the street where it happened, says he followed his aunt outside and that the scene was gruesome.
“There was blood on my hands,” said Bhuiyan’s aunt, who did not want to be on camera. She says she saw a young girl on the ground and turned her over.
Police confirmed that two of the five victims in the crash, an 8-year-old and 5-year-old girl, were getting off of a school bus. Their mother was waiting for them with her 3-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter.
The NYPD says a 2016 white Mercedes-Benz ran the school bus stop sign, and that police were trying to stop the car for a traffic stop. They say the driver abandoned the vehicle about 30 minutes away from the accident in Queens. No arrests have been made.
The mother and children are expected to survive.
