The 10-month-old baby who suffered an accidental fentanyl overdose at Moscone Park on Tuesday is safely recovering at home. Although many details about the incident are still unknown, the news has some parents questioning the safety of San Francisco parks.

"Just because of the whole homeless problem, the not so cleanliness that we have here in the streets and what have you, needless on the floor and stuff like that I wouldn't feel so comfortable," a San Francisco parent told KCBS Radio.

The father said when he and his son do go to the park, he does so with caution. "I keep a close eye on him, but the parks that I would choose would be somewhere else, not in San Francisco itself," he explained.

San Francisco Parks and Recreation stated that crews attend to play areas at the parks three times a day. The San Francisco Police Department said they searched the park after the incident and found no evidence of drugs or paraphernalia.

However, many parents aren't convinced. "I'm familiar with the area, I'm familiar with what goes on here, I hear all the stories and I just don't feel comfortable," the SF parent said.

Police have confirmed that the infant was exposed to the strong opioid, but because of HIPAA regulations, they haven’t confirmed that fentanyl was the cause of the medical emergency.
