All over newspapers and internet that Helen Skelton has been on the West End so has an advantage this week with Couples Choice, when the reality is she was there for Red Nose Day, so not a West End performer at all. Is the BBC worried that she's getting more votes than their chosen winner Hamza?

Helen's 'West End experience' might help her win a part in one of Craig's coveted musicals
Helen took part in two productions on the same night as part of a Red Nose Day challenge in 2013 while she was a presenter on Blue Peter.

The task saw her join the casts of Stomp and We Will Rock You.

Helen wore casual gear to bash bin lids and cans with a drumstick for one, then wacky leather gear as part of the ensemble for the other.

Well obviously, BBC wouldn't want that precious piece of plastic end up in the wrong hands.

 that 'bashing bin lids and cans with a drumstrick' is a fast track to the Glitterball.

    Then again, Couple's Choice...

The press have made zero mention of Helen's dance experience so I don't think they are out to get her! These online publications are full of rubbishy non-stories about Strictly.

It's ridiculous it really is. I'm sure Will has done theatre work before being an actor although I don't know if he has and I'm just assuming but so what anyway,. One performance on red nose Day or a regular theatre performer doesn't necessarily give them any advantage at all,. They get no say in what number they're given for musicals week and it's still dancing, not an open audition for acting fgs 😂

Oh the gutter press love anything they can use to have a go at Strictly (and by extension, the BBC).

“Exposing” the previous dance experience of celebs is one of their fave tactics, and I suppose it’s been fairly thin on the ground this year as we don’t have any uber ringers. I expect a story on Will being in that disco musical and Hamza doing ceilidh dancing any day now!

Exactly. They'd be talking about Helen's tap dancing award if they were really out to get her. It's not exactly top secret.

If I were on, they'd be "exposing" the mandatory once a week country dancing lesson I had for one year at school.

I remember certain people making a big fuss about Bill Bailey's "previous dance experience", turned out to be two lessons he had when he was about 12.

What nobody has ever explained to me is *why* the BBC would be so desperate for Hamza, or anyone else, to win that they resort to weird and wonderful conspiracies every year to make it happen.

I just don't think they care that much who wins. They care about a successful overall series and good viewing figures. The winning happens at the end.

This old chestnut comes up on here every single series, people saying oh the BBC have it fixed, so one of their employees must win. Tin foil hats are so easy to make. :p

I know! But which one?! How to choose between Kym, Molly, Hamza and Helen?

Her Wokeness “The BBC” must be doing Her head in trying to work out who should receive Her blessing and favour from on high. :s

We had Sword Dancing too @Crimson Arrow - that would definitely mark me down as a ringer....

The gutter press will do anything for clicks....

Helen Skelton, famously never worked for the BBC. 😏

I dont think the BBC have anything against Helen. The tabloids, especially the online articles will write any click bait headline that gets them notice. They usually dig around for SCD stories (are careless about their veracity) and particularly pounce on those who are potential winners
This year I am not sure the BBC is pushing for any one celeb to win as I think all have worked on the Beeb , at some point. The public have warmed to Hamza, he can dance and that accounts for his popularity.

I just did a Google search but didn't see any negative articles about Helen. Just a couple of articles about her selling her wedding gifts.

I hadn’t seen any either to be honest , I just assumed I had missed something. I think most media have been nice to her and expect her to make final at least

I’m assuming the OP means the ones with click-baity headlines (Helen “admits” to starring in the West End), but the content of which is entirely self-deprecating (she felt sorry for anyone who had to watch etc). A little bit of “giving with one hand and taking with the other”.

Certainly nothing you could describe as “out to get” Helen.

Perhaps the OP trying to rally support (whilst throwing a little shade Hamza’s way)? 🤷🏻‍♀️

The desperate need to get readers to click on any headline means that now everything is distorted and sensationalised. See: 'Strictly's hidden mic reveals Hamza Yassin shouting at Fleur East mid-dance'. Was Hamza in a rage with arrogant Fleur? no, the 'story' is he shouted 'go on Fleur' as she danced.

That's hilarious. And also sad, as some people will only see the headline and draw the wrong conclusions.

"Shouting at" is a deliberately chosen phrase to make it sound aggressive.

The papers seem really short of frothy Strictly gossip this year, so they are scrabbling around for filler.

They'll be finding a picture of Hamza filming on safari and claiming it's secret lion experience next.
