Police are searching for suspects who they said committed multiple burglaries in the Gig Harbor North neighborhood early on Tuesday morning. The suspects have also been linked to other burglaries in western Washington.
According to the Gig Harbor Police Department, two people entered three separate occupied homes in the area via unlocked doors and windows. They stole wallets, purses and credit cards, police said, and "attempted to gain access to several more during this time frame."
Police said they believe the suspects were "passing through the area as part of a wider series of crimes." Surveillance video from the burglarized homes corresponds to video found from the suspects using the stolen credit cards in Tumwater and Bellevue after the crimes, police said.
The suspects have been linked to other burglary and theft incidents in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties, police said. Investigators from the different counties are working together to identify the pair.
Gig Harbor police said patrol units will monitor residential areas with "great emphasis" in the wake of the burglaries. Police encouraged people to keep their doors and windows locked, not to leave any items inside parked vehicles and to report any suspicious behavior.
