SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has identified the two people who were killed after they were hit by a vehicle Thanksgiving night on Interstate 5.Â
Deputies identified 46-year-old Lisa Bacon of Orland and 55-year-old Brian Ford of Redding.Â
The CHP said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5, just south of Balls Ferry Road in Anderson.
Officers said it started when a person riding a motorcycle hit a deer, lost control and was thrown off the bike.Â
The CHP said Bacon stopped to help the rider, Ford, who was partially in the left lane.Â
A driver of a Toyota Camry from San Francisco did not see Bacon and Ford on the road and hit them.
Investigators said alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.Â
