December 1 is World Aids Day, and a local non-profit honored those affected by HIV and AIDS by lighting up the 'Welcome to Las Vegas' sign red Thursday morning.
Clark County officials joined aid for AIDS of Nevada in lighting the sign red to raise awareness, remember those who died from the disease, and also remind everyone of the resources available within the community.
According to the county, 11,000+ people living with HIV & 441 were diagnosed in 2021.

In addition to the welcome sign, many other properties around the city will go red, including The Venetian tower on the Las Vegas Strip.
The day is a global effort to unite in the fight against the disease and celebrate the accomplishments made in prevention.
