Newly renovated 911 center renamed after Kanawha County Commission president

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) —
When two Kanawha County commissioners toured the renovated Metro 911 center, they received a surprise – a sign naming the center after the commission’s president.

A sign now designates the center as the William Kent Carper Communications Center.
Carper, who is president of the county commission, toured the center along with Kanawha County Commissioner Lance Wheeler, according to a tweet from the commission. The commissioners got their first look at the center's renovations, and Carper was surprised with the new sign.

The commission president previously was honored with his name being on a building – the W. Kent Carper Justice & Public Safety Complex - that houses other county entities such as the sheriff’s office and the prosecutor’s office.
