UPDATE: The Holiday Barket event at Cabin John Regional Park is canceled due to the weather forecast.

ORIGINAL: Cabin John Regional Park is the place to be this Saturday for dogs and their people. Montgomery Parks hosts its first dog-themed holiday market on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda. This free event features dog-friendly accessories and gifts from five pet-friendly vendors, community pet service agencies, and concessions for purchase.

PetConnect, an animal welfare organization that focuses on saving dogs and cats at high risk of euthanasia, will be available to share information about their adoption efforts and services.

There will also be live music by Capital Effect, a photoshoot with the Grinch, and a pawprint keepsake craft.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cabin John Regional Park, located at 7400 Tuckerman Lane in Bethesda. The event is free and will be held in the picnic area across from the park’s train station. Parking is available in two large lots on either side of the park. One is off Tuckerman Lane and one is off Westlake Drive. Overflow parking will be available at the Shirley Povich Field at 10600 Westlake Drive.

Cabin John has a dog park across the lane from the market where owners may turn their dogs loose. When not in the dog park, owners must make sure to have their pets on a leash.
