BELLEVILLE, Ill. – An investigation is underway after a man died in a Belleville crash Wednesday evening.
Police say a 27-year-old man died in the crash, which happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday on Denvershire Drive.
Investigators say the victim was in a 2010 Chevy Camaro and was speeding on nearby Carlyle Avenue, when he left his lane and struck another vehicle head-on. A third vehicle was also struck by debris in the crash. Campbell’s car ended up in a ditch near Carlyle Avenue.
The man was rushed to a hospital, but later died from his injuries. A passenger in his car, a 27-year-old woman, was treated for minor injuries. Drivers in the other two cars suffered minor injuries, but declined medical attention.
The Belleville Police Department is handling the investigation. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
