"A Philly Special Christmas" continues to provide cheer well past the holiday season. The holiday album was created by three Eagles linemen in hopes of raising $30,000 for a toy drive at the Children's Crisis Treatment Center. That goal was surpassed, and then some. Vatican elevates Germantown chapel to 'minor basilica' status
The Miraculous Medal Shrine in Germantown has been designated with the prestigious "minor basilica" status by the Vatican. Minor basilica status gives the shrine, located on the grounds of Saint Vincent’s Seminary in Northwest Philadelphia, prominence among other churches as well as certain honorifics and responsibilities. The shrine and the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception that houses it will now be called The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.

New Liberty Distillery is expanding to add new cocktail bar and tasting room on the third floor of its production space in South Kensington. The space, which had previously been used for distillery tours and private events, has been renovated – the building's original hardwood floors have been restored and plush seating and warm lighting have been added – and now New Liberty Distillery's bar and lounge is set to open Friday, Jan. 27. Independence National Historical Park, which is responsible for maintaining park resources associated with the American Revolution, has issued a Request For Proposals in an effort to find a tenant willing to lease and operate City Tavern. New reform school gets approval for license to open at site of Glen Mills Schools
The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services will allow a new school to operate at the site of Glen Mills Schools in Delaware County after reaching a settlement. Clock Tower Schools was granted a provisional license to serve 20 court-order boys in a residential treatment program under DHS oversight, WHYY reported.
