APPLETON (WLUK) -- Jury selection is finished in the trial of a man accused of killing his two young children.
Ahead of Thursday's start to the Matthew Beyer trial, attorneys prescreened the jury pool through a mailed survey.
Beyer, 38, is charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly killing William, 5, and Danielle Beyer, 3. They were found dead in their Kaukauna home on Feb. 17, 2020.
The children's mother called police on Feb. 17, 2020, to report their deaths. Beyer initially denied being at the scene but later admitted he was at the house -- though he has denied killing the children. According to the autopsies, the children suffered multiple "sharp force" injuries.
Beyer's defense team plans to introduce evidence blaming another man for the murders.
Twelve days have been set aside for the trial.
With the jury officially selected Thursday night, opening statements are expected to begin Friday morning.
