Shoe Bank ‘elves’ ready with boots Dec. 3 & 10

Paige Snyder, a volunteer from Lock Haven University, shows some of the new boots just added to the inventory at the Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank. Winter boots will be given to eligible kids and teens Saturdays, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.

LOCK HAVEN, PA — It’s elf time. Not the elves that make toys, but the ones that make boots and shoes!
The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank will give away new boots to eligible kids and youth on two Saturdays in December, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.

Dec. 3 is a day for boots only. It’s for children and teens who received shoes within the past six months, which means they aren’t eligible for new shoes yet.

But, all Shoe Bank clients are eligible for a pair of winter boots. If these kids didn’t get their boots in November, they are welcome to come on Dec. 3 and pick out their pair.

Dec. 10 is the date for kids and teens who are eligible for both shoes and boots. New families, as well as returning ones, are welcome to come on this day.

Appointments are available on both days. The Shoe Bank is inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St.., Lock Haven, and is open 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.

Children and teens up to age 18 are eligible if the family has a current Compass app or Compass paper and if they live in Clinton County or the Liberty-Curtin School area.

To book your time slot, call or text Diahann at 814-571-5324 (Monday-Friday 7-9 p.m.). Please state if you are new to the program, how many boys and girls are coming, and if there are any special requests or needs. If you are ill, please call to reschedule. And please let Diahann know if you need to cancel for any reason, since she keeps a waiting list.

The Shoe Bank relies solely on grants and donations, including support from the Clinton County Community Foundation and a grant from M&T Bank.
