(ABC 6 News) – It’s officially December, and that means Christmas will be here before we know it. For some artists, it’s an even more exciting time of year because they get to put their Christmas show on the road.

“The Voice” alum Kat Perkins describes her “North Country Christmas Show” as a full circle variety show with high energy, fun, and something for everyone. If there’s one thing to know about Perkins, she loves Christmas.

“Writing Christmas music is just so near and dear to my heart. It means so much to me every single year to put this together. To bring families together, and have a different kind of show that I’ve never dreamed that I could have. Where a 5-year-old and an 85-year-old loves it. So no, I could never see me taking that away from my branding. I love my Christmas show, ” Perkins told ABC 6 News Good Morning reporter Sydney Zatz.

Perkins has four Christmas albums. Some people she wants to collaborate with are Michael Bublé and Mariah Carey. If she still had the chance, she said she would record a song with The Carpenters.

For seven years, Perkins has been touring her Christmas show. This year, her itinerary looks a little different and is missing some states. There’s a reason for that.

“This year I wanted to focus solely on Minnesota and North Dakota, where I’m from. And, just sort of slow it down just a little bit because I’ve had such a busy year. And focus really hard on these beautiful venues, especially in Rochester, Minnesota where we’ve never been, where we’ve never performed. And just sort of take a different approach this year so it’s more personal and we’re close to home.”

When asked what her favorite part of the show is, Perkins said it’s performing a duet with her dad. No matter how many times she does it, it makes her cry every time.

Perkins said she is not working on a full album but will have a new single in February. She will also take time to focus on her motivational speaking.

Perkins will perform at the C.H. Mayo Presentation Hall at the Mayo Civic Center on Friday, December 2nd. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
