Starting Dec. 1, the Bremerton Fast Ferry will be expanding their services to add 14 round trips to their Seattle-Bremerton route schedule each week.
“This has been a challenging season for everyone, and we’ve heard the call to be creative with solutions. We appreciate the willingness of Kitsap Transit to partner with WSF in ensuring additional ferry services are available to the community,” said Gov. Jay Inslee.
Kitsap Transit is expanding their service to fill gaps in Washington State Ferries (WSF) current schedule until WSF can restore their two-boat service on the Seattle-Bremerton route. The expansion comes in response to calls from local elected officials, businesses, and the public, according to Kitsap Transit.
Four morning roundtrips and three evening roundtrips will be added on weekdays. One morning roundtrip and six evening roundtrips will be added on Saturdays.
“We’re glad we can support Bremerton and our partner, WSF, with these additional sailings while WSF works toward restoring two-boat service,” said John Clauson, Kitsap Transit Executive Director.
WSF reduced their Seattle Bremerton route to a one-boat service in Sept. 2021 to provide reliable service to travelers. The restoration is “likely to be trialed in Spring 2023,” according to Kitsap Transit.
“The timing of full restoration of the Seattle/Bremerton route is dependent on the number of new licensed deck officers who complete training early in 2023,” said Patty Rubstello, Washington State Ferries Assistant Secretary.
