CLEVELAND, Ohio-- Whether it’s stories of drinking each other’s blood or causing a frenzy with their latest red-carpet look, Machine Gun Kelly and his girlfriend, actress Megan Fox, know how to keep us guessing.
The couple became official back in 2020, and their red-carpet looks have gotten almost as much attention as their wild antics.
This past spring, Fox revealed the couple had participated in a “blood-drinking ritual.”
The rapper’s eccentric style also seems to influence Fox. Since dating the rapper-turned-rockstar, she has taken more risks with her red-carpet looks. Fox went from wearing simple, form-fitting silhouettes to experimenting with bold patterns and patent leather.
MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, grew up in Greater Cleveland and is a graduate of Shaker Heights High School. He has built his pop-culture brand from music and movies. But fashion is an interest, too. Back in 2017, he walked the catwalk at New York Fashion Week for John Varvatos menswear. Earlier this year, the rapper began collaborating with Dolce and Gabbana for several fashion campaigns, strutting his stuff for the Dolce and Gabanna Fall-Winter 2022 Men’s Show.
His recent look at the 2022 American Music Awards garnered a lot of attention, with a purple monochromatic suit and silver spikes.
MGK shared in a recent interview that fashion allows him to be his authentic self and that it’s the opposite of “something fake.”
“Personally, I enjoy what’s happening with fashion today because actually, it’s the opposite of something fake, of people over-extending themselves to look a certain way. I think a lot of people are doing it just to really express themselves,” Kelly told GQ.
“There’s just so much personality, so much character in people’s looks, non-traditional hair colors, hairstyles, nails, and tattoos. But you know, you’re from GQ. What do you think about it?”
The rapper also noted how being from the Midwest still makes him an outsider in the fashion world, and walking catwalks is very different from performing on stage.
“It was different,” he told GQ. In a concert, there’s not just anticipation, but there’s a… want for me to come out onstage. But you know, we’re in Milan,” he said. “I’m from Ohio. I don’t think people today wanted to see me, necessarily, and maybe there was some apprehension as to what I’d do as the host of the show.”
