If you didn’t stay up with it last night, Notre Dame routed No. 20 Michigan State to move to 6-1 on the young basketball season. It was a night that Cormac Ryan won’t soon forget as he was 6-of-7 from beyond the arc and led all scorers with 23 points.

As the regular season turns to post-season and the odd time between weekly games and awaiting a bowl destination take, we’ve been looking a bit at the transfer portal here this week. A possibility for Notre Dame to pursue came to mind yesterday in the form of a Northwestern receiver that could buy the young calvary at the position a little time before needing to make an impact.

We’ve also sought the help of our colleagues at Wolverines Wire to help us scout a potential transfer quarterback target so be on the lookout for that later Thursday morning.

It’s amazing how quickly a year goes by yet how long ago it can seem at times. It’s been only that since Kyren Williams last straped it up for Notre Dame in the 2021 regular season conclusion at Stanford.

Williams went to the NFL where he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fifth round this past spring. Injuries have sidelined him much of the season but he was mic’d up for last week’s game against the Chiefs and we strongly recommend you take a couple minutes and check it out.

If only we could all enjoy our day jobs as much as Kyren…

We missed this when the official release came out but in case you were wondering, voters for the Mackey Award (nation’s best tight end) got it right this season as Michael Mayer is one of three finalists. Mayer was inexplicably left off the list of finalists a season ago. The Notre Dame record holder is joined by Georgia’s Brock Bowers and Iowa’s Sam LaPorta as finalists.

Also in regard to football, John Kennedy shared his biggest takeaways from the up-and-down 2022 campaign.
