(Franklin County, MA) With the high winds in yesterday’s storm, many downed trees and wires resulted in electrical fires and power outages across Franklin County. In Northfield, there were at least two reported fires and multiple downed wires causing a transformer to blow.
Wires on a home on Caldwell Road in Northfield caused an electrical fire in the kitchen. Reservation Road in Sunderland was temporarily closed Wednesday night after a telephone pole and transformer fell into the roadway after a tree collapsed.
Many power outages have already been resolved in Colrain, Conway, Gill, Leverett, Leyden, Northfield, and Warwick. Eversource is expected to bring power back to areas of Buckland by 6 a.m. Thursday.
