So, since it’s time to cut through the pool water and shave a little time of personal bests, let’s look at five boys preseason Mid-Penn Conference all-star swimmers

Shawn Erdley

School: State College

Year: Senior

Buzz: Erdley will enter his senior year attempting to meet or exceed his command performances of the 2021-22 swimming season. Erdley took down District 6 gold in the 100 breaststroke and 200 intermediate medley. He followed that up with a state medal in the 100 breast.

Derek Estep

School: Chambersburg

Year: Junior

Buzz: The question is not so much buzz, but what will Estep do for an encore as a seasoned junior swimmer? Last year, Estep really stepped up and garnered District gold in the 100 butterfly and bronze in the District 200 freestyle. If that wasn’t enough, Estep medaled in the state meet in the 200 free with a fourth place showing and won the state consolation swim of the 100 butterfly.

Buzz: Hancock is another Mid-Penn swimmer who appears poised for a big senior season. He earned state bronze in the 50 freestyle and was just .06 seconds away from the gold. Hancock participated in the Crusaders’ bronze-medal winning 200 freestyle relay team. He flexed his muscle at Districts too, placing second in the 50 free and third in 100 free.

Buzz: Coming off last year’s state meet, the Bubblers senior is poised for a big year ahead. Mowe told PennLive at Winter Media Days that he’s looking forward to posting good times this season. Mowe enjoyed a very strong PIAA meet, picking up state silver in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. Prior to that meet, Mowe won District gold in both strokes.
