RED KETTLE KICK-OFF– The Hockley County Salvation Army Unit hosted its annual Kettle Kick-off Thursday afternoon in the United Supermarkets parking lot. The Levelland High School Lobo Drumline kicked off the ceremonial event, followed by the LHS Cheerleader cheers and the LHS Choir, who sang Deck The Halls and Away In a Manger. Guest speaker Corporal Commanding Officer Major David Worthy of the Lubbock County Salvation Army, welcomed everyone to the 131st opening year of the Salvation Army Red Kettle Event and commended the school for being there in support of the event. Major Worthy spoke on how the Red Kettle represents hope for those who are in need in Hockley County and how all the funds received stays in Hockley County. The Hope On The Go mobile unit was on site at the event. It’s the newest Salvation Army mobile social services on wheels that carries everything from food, clothing, blankets, etc. for those in need in rural areas.
