Madison police are searching for the man who they say shot a man Tuesday near the state capitol.
Police say the suspected shooter is Lamar Jefferson, a 40-year-old man with ties to Milwaukee.
Witnesses said they saw Jefferson and the victim arguing before they heard multiple gunshots.
Police said the two men know each other.
The 29-year-old victim collapsed at a nearby coffee shop where customers and workers jumped in to help.
"For Michelangelo's to be this community space for 26 years and here is a guy who's in need of help from the community and the community to respond and be able to help him in this way, it's kind of a positive light to it all," said Michelangelo's manager Anthony Moors.
Police have not said why they believe Jefferson is tied to Milwaukee. However, he does not have an address in Madison.
Police consider him to be armed and dangerous.
