Burroughs, Burbank Play South Bay Schools

The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ basketball team lost its Battle of the Beach Tournament opener against West High of Torrance, 57-46, on Monday.
Senior Izzy Roderick poured in 20 points while sophomore Mariam Fahs and junior Ashley Martin scored eight and seven points, respectively.
The Bears previously won a nonleague game at Simi Valley, 49-40. Freshman Malia Harney and Roderick each scored 11 points while freshman Grace Barton registered eight points.
JBHS (2-1 overall) will open Pacific League action by hosting Glendale on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 5:30 p.m.

BURBANK
The Bulldogs opened the Muir Tip-Off Shootout in Pasadena by routing Morningside High of Inglewood, 53-20, on Monday. Karen Casillas posted a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, Nikaela Damasen registered 14 points and three rebounds, and Rheanna Ocampo produced 14 points, including three 3-pointers.
Burbank (2-0 overall) will host Trinity Classical Academy of Valencia in a nonleague game on Monday, Nov 28, at 7 p.m.
