Watershed Public Theatre will host two holiday events this month, with its Farm Holiday Bazaar Dec. 3-4, and performances of “A Christmas Cabaret” run Dec. 9-11.

The annual Farm Holiday Bazaar will take place at the Farm intentional community at 150 Schoolhouse Road in Summertown. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.

A wide variety of vendors from the Southeast will be set up indoors and outdoors selling jewelry, handmade cards, bath and body products, tie dye clothing, glass art, knit and sewn goods, artwork and more. The free public event will also include food and beverages sold throughout both days. Proceeds raised from the event benefit Watershed Public Theatre’s mission.

WPT’s popular dinner theater returns for the holidays with “A Christmas Cabaret,” featuring jazz arrangements of favorite Christmas songs at Mt. Pleasant Grille, 100 South Main St. Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9-10, and at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11.

“A Christmas Cabaret” is led by Nashville jazz pianist Wydell Croom, who was last seen on the WPT stage as Jimmy in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill. Joining Croom are singers Kortney Ballenger and Ellen Foreman, bassist Garnet Davis and drummer Evan Barr.

Columbia resident Kortney Ballenger is pleased to take the stage in her hometown community after spending two years traveling across the country as a professional actor.

“Christmas is very special to me,” Ballenger said.

“Outside of the hustle and bustle, the joy, the giving, the love, and the overall excitement, it reminds me that good things come back and that sometimes life runs full circle. A lot like life, music trends tend to come and go, but for Christmas? The warm feeling stays. That's what this cabaret is for me. Warm joy that continues to come back.”

This special holiday event is hosted by Mt. Pleasant Grille, featuring a menu that includes a variety of pasta choices, with both gluten-free and vegetarian options available. Guests will enjoy a buffet meal in the Grille’s second-floor Triangle Room. An alternative seating option is available in the first-floor Phosphate Room for guests who cannot access the Triangle Room by stairs. Those seated in the Phosphate Room will receive table service and watch the performance by livestream.
