YouTube Music has relaunched Recaps, which is basically an overview of what listeners got into during the year, which is nothing new to music lovers on other music-streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

However, this year is more personalized and specific. The 2022 Recap experience not only reveals to listeners their music stats, including top artists, songs, albums, music videos, and more, it now reportedly includes their top trends, "identity," and "hard-to-find content."

The most innovative addition to this year's YouTube Music Recaps is how it is now widely available on the YouTube application.

According to YouTube, listeners just have to search '2022 Recap' on the search bar of their YouTube application on iOS or Android. Listeners will see their personalized Recap playlist.

Moreover, this year's Recap has a more interactive take, following Spotify Wrapped's colorful and inviting visuals. The Verge reports that the personalized and unique Recap playlist will not only be available for viewing but it will also for sharing thanks to Google Photos.

YouTube Music RecapS upped the ante with the addition of three new categories under the stats, reports say.

Top Trends, which shows off how the artists listeners found before most other people; followed by Identity, which assigns the listener a "music personality" based on their music selection; and finally, Hard-to-Find Content, which includes some exclusive remixes and live performances the listener loved this year.

Spotify Wrapped Contender?

Many consider Spotify Wrapped the top dog of the year-end listening round-ups among the music-streaming platforms, but it seems like YouTube music is not too far off behind.

YouTube Music's 2018 version of Recaps, which used to be called Rewind, was simply a summary of the listener's music stats, but the music-streaming giant has upgraded and innovated over the years.

While most listeners have their own preferences on which music streaming platform is better, both Spotify and YouTube Music have their own unique features that draw in different users.

The edge YouTube Music has over Spotify is the availability of all sorts of music available for stream and download, which includes songs and covers by lesser-known artists that might not yet be available on Spotify.

However, when it comes to the year-end round-ups, it seems that YouTube Music has finally caught up with Spotify Wrapped, and this is definitely something listeners should consider for the next year.
