LEWISTON (WGME) – Students at Robert V. Connors Elementary School in Lewiston are making ornaments to represent Maine in the national Christmas tree display in Washington D.C.

The students are creating their ornaments to highlight themes such as belonging and inclusivity. They're using Maine icons like lobsters and pine trees to convey that message.

The students want to ensure that those who don’t celebrate the holiday are still represented in their creations.

The school will be hosting a watch party for all students, educators and family members when the ceremony airs on December 11.
