Wednesday, the community college opened its brand-new parking structure on Weldon Avenue next to Blackstone.

“While some might be amused that we ‘celebrate’ the opening of this parking structure, we think it’s a great accomplishment as we know how much it will contribute to the success of our students,” said Fresno City College President, Robert Pimentel. “By helping them find parking quickly they won’t have to worry about getting to class late. The simple act of finding parking can make a big difference in making the college experience less stressful.”

The new parking structure has five levels and includes 864 parking spots for students and 125 more stalls that are adjacent to the structure.

According to Fresno City College, the $18.3 million parking structure was funded through Measure C which voters passed back in 2016. The college also mentioned that students can park for free until Fall 2023, which is when parking permits will be required again at FCC.
