BUT TODAY VISITORS HAD TO WALK IN THE STREET TO AVOID AN AREA OF SIDEWALK THAT CAVED IN.... <"I THINK IT'S A NATURAL PHENOMENON. THIS IS SOME THINGTHAT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. The city of Santa Cruz announced that the plan to repair the collapsed roadway on West Cliff Drive could be finished next month. The city said, "The 'West Cliff Revetment Project' will replace protective rip-rap that has worn away and repair the bike/ped path. We expect to have completed project plans before the end of the year."There was no timeline listed for when repairs would begin or possibly finish. While repairs stay pending, the cave-in site is barricaded and the city is asking pedestrians to avoid the cliff. The issue has been going on for a few years. Residents living in the area say they saw it coming. City officials say serious solutions need to be discussed to ensure no one gets hurt.
