SLCPD: 1 dead following auto-pedestrian crash

UPDATE:

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — One person has died on Wednesday, Nov. 30, following an auto-pedestrian crash near 2100 E. 1300 S.

Officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department were dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m., and they found people have begun administrating life-saving measures on the pedestrian who was hit.

Gold Cross Ambulance and the Salt Lake City Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. SLCPD officers later learned that the victim died at the hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Nissan pick-up was trying to turn from 1300 South to 2100 East when they hit the victim who was in a marked crosswalk, according to SLCPD. The driver remained at the scene as the police arrived.

This crash was reportedly the 24th traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City this year.

The name and age of the victim have not been released.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Salt Lake City Police Department said officers are currently investigating a deadly crash at 2100 E. 1300 S. They were dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

2100 E. at 1300 S. will be closed in both directions for the next few hours, SLCPD said. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

SLCPD Officer Ben Nielsen said the victim was transported by Gold Cross and the Salt Lake City Fire Department to a local hospital. Shortly after that, officers learned that the victim had died from their injuries.

Police said they believed the victim was walking on a crosswalk when the crash happened.

The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team from the SLCPD has joined the investigation.

“We just want everyone to be careful while they are driving,” Nielsen said. “Our hearts go out to the family and people involved.”
