LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department will be on high alert for impaired drivers this holiday season.

The City of Lincoln announced that the department is joining the nationwide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign for the month of December.

Between Dec. 16 and Dec. 30, extra funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation will allow Lincoln Police to work more overtime hours for bolstered enforcement.

Enforcement efforts will also emphasize sober driving through the entire month.

The city recommends that people plan ahead if they intend to drink by getting a designated driver or another ride home.

It also encourages people to prevent others from driving while impaired and to call police when seeing an impaired driver on the road.
