Marywood University held their annual Christmas Tree lighting Wednesday evening.

To kick off the holiday season, the University held their traditional tree lighting in the Marywood rotunda.

Members of the Marywood and local communites joined in on the festivities.

Students tell FOX56 that the event is great because it brings everyone together and helps them get read for finals week.

"We're almost done, we only have a week and a half left. we just got to get ready, grab the reins, and go!" says Danny Becker, a junior at Marywood.

Following opening remarks and a blessing of the tree, Sr. Mary Persico, President of the University, invited a local elementary student to join her in lighting the tree.
