🚨 There are obviously BIG spoilers ahead for Wednesday! 🚨
Wednesday is officially one of the biggest shows of the year — like, seriously, it beat Stranger Things Season 4 as the most-watched English-language series on Netflix in a single week with 341.23 million hours viewed.
And I simply cannot stop gushing over how much I adore the series. In case you don't know, Wednesday follows Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) as she is sent to Nevermore Academy. It's there that she ends up investigating a series of murders, all while making new friends (and some foes).
The show is basically a spooky teen TV drama, which means there's some quintessential teen TV moments that happen in Season 1, like a school dance and enough relationship angst to carry you through the holiday season.
Throughout Season 1, Wednesday appears to find herself in a love triangle of sorts with Tyler (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier (Percy Hynes White). However, an entire group of fans can't help but point out that Enid (Emma Myers) and Wednesday are low-key the real relationship at the heart of the show.
I mean, they literally are the definition of that Taylor Swift lyric, "[she] was sunshine, I was midnight rain."
And that hug from the season finale between Enid and Wednesday broke me in more ways than I can count. They are the greatest duo on this show.
As much as I love a love triangle, I think Wednesday could greatly benefit from leaning into the clear chemistry between Jenna and Emma — that's all I'm saying.
When asked about how a lot of LGBTQ+ fans identify with Wednesday, Jenna even said in a red carpet interview, "I think because she's a badass. She's cool. She's got a nice sense of style, but she's somebody who embraces her differences and isn't out to please anybody. I feel like that's a really, really powerful thing to see."
Jenna concluded, saying, "And I feel like people want to see powerful women with powerful women."
Meanwhile, Emma told Elite Daily that she and Jenna would often reference the popular LGBTQ+ meme "And they were roommates" while on set. She added, "That’s all that needs to be said — I think that gets the message across."
