Conner Greene, a 20-yearold living in Cibola, put the county in the national spotlight on November 25. Greene is wanted by the New Mexico State Police and Cibola County Sheriff’s Office after causing two car accidents on Interstate 40 headed to Grants from Albuquerque, New Mexico. While he pleaded guilty to two charges, he was placed on parole and has since absconded.

A Reelz television show called “On Patrol: Live” follows police officers and departments around the country, including Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. On Nov. 25, during their “Wanted” roundup, the show cut to an incident that occurred earlier in March where Green allegedly fled from police down I-40 and crashed into two people in the process.

This episode led to widespread condemnation of the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s office on the internet, with many questioning why Greene, born in 2003, was ever on the streets to begin with.

In March, Greene was arrested for five counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated fleeing a law enforcing officer, one count of aggravated DWI, one count of concealing identity, one count of reckless driving, one count of expired motor vehicle registration, one count of driving while license suspended, and one count of failure to maintain traffic lane.

In a maroon-colored Chrysler, Greene allegedly passed cars on the shoulder of Interstate 40, moving at speeds upwards of 120 miles per hour, Greene struck at least two vehicles before finally rolling on the interstate, leaving debris on the road.

Prosecutors with the 13th Judicial District came to a plea agreement with Greene, where they dismissed every charge except for one count of aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer and aggravated DWI. As part of the deal, Greene would plead guilty to those two charges and be released on 18 months of parole.

On August 26 the court reported that Greene had absconded from his parole. A warrant was put out for his arrest. Since, law enforcement has been unable to find Greene. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cibola County Sheriff’s Office at 505-287-9476.
