FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man authorities feel is linked to a South Carolina homicide was recently seen around Fayetteville.

The development adds a North Carolina connection to a tragic story where a woman was found shot to death on Thanksgiving.

Orangeburg County (South Carolina) deputies found a 46-year-old woman dead inside a home on Louise Drive after conducting a welfare check. Autopsy results revealed the woman died after she was shot in her upper body.

Since the discovery, investigators with multiple agencies have been searching for the woman’s 5-year-old daughter, Aspen Jeter, as well as the child’s father, Antar Antonio Jeter.

Law enforcement on Sunday received a tip from a surveillance camera at a department store parking lot in the Fayetteville area. A man matching the description of Antar Jeter was seen with a child. When law enforcement arrived at the parking lot, the man and child had left.

Another call was made to authorities Monday when several people saw a man with a child in a vehicle in the same area.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said investigators are looking to speak with Antar Jeter, 46, who is believed to have been the male spotted in North Carolina. Jeter, from Columbia, S.C., may be driving a blue 2015 Mazda 6 taken from the victim’s home.

Deputies said anyone who sees Jeter should not approach him.

Anyone with information on Jeter’s location is urged to call the OCSO at 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME_SC.
