WARREN (WWJ) – A Clinton Township man is facing charges after a family dispute on Thanksgiving allegedly turned to violence.

Michael Sinnawi, 35, is facing five felony counts, including assault with intent to murder for the shooting, which the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office says happened in the early morning hours Friday.

Late Thanksgiving night, Sinnawi’s girlfriend and her brother got into an argument after she was allegedly disrespectful to their mother, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Sinnawi allegedly threatened the brother after the argument, and the two agreed to meet up for a physical fight at a family member’s home in the area of 12 Mile and Schoenherr Roads, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Officials say someone drove the brother to the home and while they were sitting in the car in front of the house, Sinnawi allegedly drove up to the victim’s car, with the sister in the front seat, and shot the victim five times and fled the scene.

Warren police officers provided life-saving measures. The prosecutor’s office did not release any information about the victim, including their name, age, or relationship to the family.

Sinnawi was arraigned Tuesday on one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of  discharge of a firearm from a vehicle causing injury, one count of possession of a firearm and two counts of felony firearm.

If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.

Sinnawi’s bond was set at $1 million, cash/surety only. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 6.
